You may or may not know Facebook will be changing its layout completely for business pages and personal pages as of the 30th of March.
This means all landing pages will need to be redesigned and you can no longer capture data from these landing pages.
The idea is that you will need to have your branding in a new feature called the ‘cover’ this is a header at the top of your Facebook page. This header however can not ask people to like your page or give them an incentive. It also can not list any contact information. This meaning it needs to purely be a simplistic design with your logo on.
You can however still create tabs and have competition tabs etc.. You will just need to post about these tabs to make sure people notice them. You can also point out these tabs along the top of the page where Facebook give you a small photo area to use.
Here is a screenshot of a client Facebook we have created in the new format.
As you can see we have listed what they do and their branding along the top. And also 2 photos underneath linking to their tabs – one for their promo video and one for their free coffee offer.
This is how all Facebook accounts will need to look by 30th March 2012. It’s essential that you update your business page to the new ‘Timeline’ look by this date otherwise Facebook will automatically do this for you but of course your branding will almost certainly look distorted and unprofessional given the fact they won’t be giving the love and attention your page needs and deserves – they just want it done!
